Toddler girl clothes have to be so many things: durable and stain resistant yet soft and adorable. Your girl is a princess and a gymnast. Her clothes need to be everything that she is. Moreover, they need to be toddler approved! That is a lot to ask. Try these tips to make shopping for clothes, and getting her to put them on in the morning, go a little smoother.
Check how they will feel to her: All those adorable decals and frills can be irritating to tender skin. Feel the inside of the clothing, especially around the seams, to make sure it is soft and comfortable.
Stick with either plain colored tops or bottoms: Little girls love to dress themselves, but they do not always pick outfits that go together well. You will at least avoid having a polka-dot shirt with zebra pants by following this advice when buying your toddler girl clothes.
Keep old clothes close at hand: You want your girl to look beautiful when you step out, but toddlers are natural mess makers. By having a set of clothes designated for messy play, whether it be painting or cooking mud pies, you can keep your other toddler girl clothes looking like new.
Offer lots of choices: Toddlers love a sense of control and can demand it with by throwing a tantrum. Asking, “would you like to wear your pink shirt or your purple shirt?” gives your daughter that sense of control. The trick is to only offer options that you are ok with. By offering the pink or purple shirt, you take the green shirt off the list of possibilities for today.
Parenting is challenging, but toddler girl clothes do no need to be a source of conflict!
